What are the risks from drinking alcohol before finding out you are pregnant?

You do not need to completely cut out alcohol during the "two-week wait;" at this stage, even if you conceive, you are not sharing blood with your baby, so some alcohol consumption is fine. Beyond the two week wait, there is no good evidence that light drinking during pregnancy negatively impacts your baby. Deciding to have the occasional drink during pregnancy is a personal choice. Consult your doctor, and make the decision that is best for you.
