I recently found out I’m pregnant. I’m 5 weeks and 6 days along, and I haven’t felt any symptoms. That’s weird, right? I’ve heard all about morning sickness and how everyone gets it. I feel like I should be nauseous or craving something crazy. I’m not complaining, but is it normal to not feel sick?
—Call me lucky (I guess?)
Do not count yourself as lucky just yet. When we look at data on nausea and vomiting, the share of women experiencing this is highest in weeks 7 through 9 of pregnancy. Even then, not everyone experiences nausea, and even fewer have vomiting. In the end, about 80% of women have some level of nausea during pregnancy, with these experiences varying widely.

In fact, most of the common pregnancy symptoms — fatigue, heartburn, breathlessness, constipation — come up more slightly or much later in pregnancy. Using symptom tracker data, researchers have shown that fatigue peaks around week 9, along with nausea. Constipation peaks just a bit later, and many other pregnancy symptoms (heartburn, backache, foot pain, difficulty breathing, and more) just increase as the pregnancy progresses.
What I am saying is, there is much to look forward to! And it’s normal to not be symptomatic at this stage.

One day my breasts hurt and I tested and was pregnant! That was the last of my symptoms until heartburn kicked in months later. I bought a Doppler bc I had no symptoms and wanted more assurance there really was a baby in there. I didn’t have any symptoms until maybe 7-8 months when sleeping got more difficult. It really is different for everyone.
Yes! I was the same way, was never nauseous. Honestly it got super annoying everyone asking me and some basically wishing that I was nauseous all the time because they were. Everyone and every pregnancy is different!
