How many drinks can I have if I’m breastfeeding?

The current research suggests that occasional drinking while breastfeeding is generally safe. The alcohol concentration in breast milk is similar to that in your blood, so as your blood alcohol level goes down, so does the level in your milk. To err on the side of caution, it's best to wait for about 2 hours after having a drink before breastfeeding. If you've had two drinks, waiting for about 4 hours is recommended.
