When should you not fly in pregnancy?

Last updated on April 1, 2026

Flying is generally safe during pregnancy, but it's best to avoid it after 34 weeks. This is mainly because of concerns about going into labor while in the air or having the baby far from home. Additionally, if you’re at risk for preterm labor, it’s wise to consult your doctor before flying. Always wear your seatbelt and consider moving around during longer flights to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (although the risk of this is very small and confined to longer-haul flights). Safe travels!
