We are in the same poop holding situation. Fully pee trained since Dec/jan and will only go poop in his pull ups during sleep times. Tried miralax and refused to take it after a few times. Trying to figure out what else works. Definitely just anxiety for him and I don’t know how to get him to do it. We have tried sitting for a while too when I know he needs to go and he even says he needs to go but won’t.

Agreed! I have followed them for some time now and it does work. I like the approach of trying to tell them why too. So instead of be careful saying “that is wobbly let’s hold my hand so we don’t fall” or splashing in the tub saying “water stays in the bathtub”. Obviously if he is unsafe or does the splashing many times we are done but I think over explaining helps them know why too. We went through some rough periods where I was in tears after our battles so hang in there! It’s hard

It’s a totally new normal. It’s hard but so rewarding. Watching a child grow into a person is absolutely incredible. My husband and I decided if we would have any fertility trouble we would just accept not being parents and be the fun aunt and uncle. Luckily we did not struggle and have 2 beautiful Children. My baby and toddler are hard but I’m so so happy I had them. Something as simple as my 2.5 year old coming home yelling “mommy” and running to hug me is 10x more amazing than my old life. It’s hard saying good bye to your old life but it’s just as great in its own way. But also make the decision for you both. If you aren’t feeling like you want to then don’t! No shame on not having kids in this day and age.
Also the lack of child friendly benefits in this country make it more stressful and may add to why your friends seem “depressed”. Spending a lot of money on childcare is depressing… going back to working while dealing with 3-4 month sleep regression, not exactly happy times. But just like life it’s a phase and you get through. Every age has happy times and hard times.
