Agree, as someone with a younger baby but with a degree in Early Childhood Development! Intervention should be supportive and positive and ideally free — and I think for that reason the language is changing to support services vs “early intervention” services. The idea of calling things “developmental delays” is, as the person above said, based on an average. My son is in the third percentile for weight and is chubby and happy. I think percentiles and norms only serve to stress parents out. I would take comfort in the fact that your child is doing well in all these other ways and that you can get support for speech and whatever else by getting referrals. Maybe from a better pediatrician…
