I can’t remember where I heard or read this (I have a 1.5 year old and one on the way so my brain is particularly hazy these days), but: in terms of parenting, grief is not regret. While people might grieve their pre-baby lives, very few regret becoming parents. I might miss or even be sad that I’m not out with friends and then sleeping in until 11 the next day (particularly the sleeping part) but the magical, incandescent joy of my baby is a choice I would make again and again.
